Le Corbusier
(1887-1965)
Le Corbusier's steel furniture designs were described as "equipment de l'habitation," in keeping with his machine-based design philosophy. His famous chaise (1928), termed a " relaxing machine," adjusts for varying degrees of incline. The based and body of the chaise are two pieces, allowing the bow-shaped body to be positioned for reading, napping or conversing. Available in smooth, full-grain black leather or natural-haired cowhide. Haired hides contain varying amounts of black, white and brown.
