The Eameses began experimenting in the 1940s with chair designs of molded plywood that eventually gave way to the Plywood Lounge Chair, one of the most innovative and influential designs of the 2oth century. Constructed of 5-ply molded plywood, the seat and back are contoured for comfort, while the low-slung form is at apt height for reading or meditating. Formal enough for the finest lobbies, casual enough for residential use, it's a classic piece.
